The other hitter is on the opposite side, usually the right side. They may hit, block, or play as a setter.

The Setter:

The setter position is important in volleyball. It is considered the mastermind of the offence; the setter controls the tempo and decides on the ideal position for a powerful attack.

A setter must have excellent court vision and anticipation skills and an ability to set the ball accurately.

They decide when and where to pass the ball, which ensures winning points for the team.

Middle row:

The Middle Blocker:

The primary role of middle blockers is to form a defensive wall against opponent’s attacks. They may also spike the ball where necessary.

The Back Row Players:

Libero

Libero may replace an outside hitter during rotations and wear a contrasting jersey. They can take on defensive plays and excel at digging and serving.

How the players in various positions work together:

Players at different volleyball court positions provide a coordinated flow of the game. The team receives the opponent’s serve, typically by the Libero mostly.

The ball passes to the Setter, who sets it high for a powerful spike by the Outside Hitter or Opposite hitter for an ultimate attack.

The Middle Blocker jumps high at the net to block the opponent’s attack. If the block is unsuccessful and needs to be tackled further, the remaining players position themselves strategically for digs.
